This annual gathering, which takes place in mid-May at the Sand Hollow Recreation Area, attracts a large group of UTV enthusiasts from all over, seeking a week filled with thrilling off-road adventures. This year, I had the exciting opportunity to tag along with none other than Curt Miles and Jake Andersen from SlikRok Productions, amplifying the anticipation for an unforgettable experience.
As the clock struck 9 am, the meeting time for the day's adventures, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation when I laid my eyes upon the impressive fleet of UTVs that the SlikRok crew had brought along. Their 4-seat rigs equipped with GDP portals and boasting massive 37" and 39" MRT XRox tires seemed like powerful beasts ready to conquer any thing they encounter. In contrast, there I was, sitting in my two-seat stock machine, adorned with the newly released 35-inch MRT Rocky Rx tires, feeling somewhat underprepared. It was as if I had unwittingly found myself in a sequel to "The Lord of the Rings," aptly titled "Return of the Orcs," with my humble rig appearing rather dwarfed amongst the impressive lineup. But with a touch of humor, I couldn't help but quip, "I'm going on an adventure!" reminiscent of Bilbo Baggins himself.
Curt, our fearless leader for the day, wasted no time in igniting our adrenaline-fueled journey. He led us straight onto a trail boasting an 8 out of 10 difficulty rating. As someone who considered themselves a seasoned rock crawler, I thought I had seen it all. However, following Curt and his crew made me quickly reassess my confidence. We encountered a series of jaw-droppingly steep and towering obstacles that seemed inconceivable for a UTV to conquer. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. The finesse and seemingly effortless manner in which this skilled crew maneuvered these mini mountains of boulders left me in awe. While I managed to conquer most of the obstacles throughout the day, there were a few that I decided to spectate and capture through my camera lens, choosing to appreciate the awe-inspiring feats from a different perspective.
For those who have Sand Hollow on their bucket list of must visit places, this event proves to be a fantastic opportunity, especially for first timers. Guided rides are available each day, led by experienced drivers well-acquainted with the area's terrain. Their expertise allows them to help you navigate even the most treacherous climbs, turning what might seem like insurmountable challenges into thrilling accomplishments. Vendor Row is filled with an array of aftermarket manufacturers with fantastic deals for all UTVs brands. Polaris is even on site with Demo rides of the latest and greatest machines!
So, whether you're a seasoned off-roader or new to the scene, the SxS Adventure Rally on the Rocks offers an adventure-filled experience that will undoubtedly leave you with unforgettable memories and a newfound appreciation for the thrill of off-roading.

Official Statement from ROTR:
After 10 awesome years and thousands of adventure miles behind us Rally On The Rocks will not be held in 2022. The SXS community is our family and as you know Grand County has made it almost impossible to host our event the way we know how. The political climate there and the desire to remove/limit access for the OHV community as a whole is wake up call for us all. We appreciate all you as a community have done to support our multi year push to keep Rally On The Rocks such an incredible event. Lanse and I have looked at other options extensively for the past three years and come to the same conclusion each time. ROTR is a Moab event and just will not be the same anywhere else. If we can come back in the future we will!
Our event date will be taken by our sister event SXS Adventure Rally On The Rocks and will be held at Sandhollow State Park in Hurricane Ut May 11-13, 2022. We invite you to come see a different and beautiful part of Utah. SXS are fully welcomed here. For more info on this event go to www.SXSadventurerally.com

Many rumors have been floating around social media for the last couple of years that this machine will break the glass ceiling of the 1000cc engine size.
I for one believe the rumors are true. With the introduction of the 2.0L 4 cylinder engine in the Slingshot, the time has come to throw the powerplant in an off road machine.
Below are patent drawings filed by Polaris, as well as, photos that have surfaced over the years of what is presumed to be the Pro R.
One thing that I will point out from the picture posted by Polaris RZR today is, notice the exhaust tips are different on the two machines. Could we see two machines revealed with different powerplants????
I guess we will find out on November 9th...

“We are committed to pushing our innovation and looking forward to the opportunity to build upon our legendary racing history as a brand. The successes and lessons learned from racing accelerate product innovation, allowing us to continue delivering a category-defining product for our dedicated customers,” said Steven Menneto, President of Polaris Off Road.
As the most successful brand in side-by-side racing, Polaris and the RZR Factory Racing team are poised to continue innovating and raising the bar of performance race vehicles. The knowledge acquired from racing is crucial to the future design of production vehicles. Countless hours of research, development and testing on the race course has led to the current RZR Pro XP Platform. The RZR Pro XP is proven, winning the Baja 1000, Baja 500, short course races, WORCS races, East Coast XC races, and the UTV World Championships all in the last year.
“We chose to race the T4 class at Dakar, because we wanted to showcase what the Polaris RZR Pro XP is capable of, what defines its DNA—the pursuit of constant performance. Our vehicle is built from as many stock parts as possible to show their durability and performance capabilities when competing against the toughest competition in the world,” explained Robert Wilmot, Polaris RZR Vehicle Architect and Lead Dakar Engineer. Amongst the laundry list of stock Pro XP parts the team will be using, some of the marquee stock components include the Pro Star engine, intercooler, turbo, transmission, hubs, brake calipers and much more. The vehicle also utilizes a stock wheelbase.
The RZR Factory Racing RZR Pro XP is powered by a 4-stroke fuel-injected, DOHC, turbocharged, twin cylinder 925cc engine, fueled by a 130L fuel cell, and capable of a top speed of 130 KPH (80.77 MPH). A Motec® ECU with custom wiring and dash, custom switch pad and onboard diagnostics will ensure optimal performance, and a rear-mounted radiator with a custom roof scoop will provide maximum airflow. A lightweight lithium battery set up by Braille Battery® will power the RZR Pro XP throughout its inaugural Dakar campaign.
The team is also using an FIA homologated chassis, customized by Jimco Racing®, and based off the Polaris RZR Pro XP platform. With a 96” wheelbase, 74” wide stance, and custom suspension with an additional 1.5” of travel compared to stock, the vehicle is built to perform on the harsh Dakar terrain. A custom FOX RACING SHOX® suspension with increased reservoir capacity has been chosen for increased cooling, performance, and greater adjustability. In the cockpit, Sparco® racing seats and safety harnesses ensure comfort and driver safety during the 12-day race. The chassis also has an integrated spare parts and tool storage supply, which will undoubtedly prove imperative since there will be no pit crew, and drivers will need to make their own repairs while on the course.
“As the clear-cut leader in side-by-side racing, there’s a lot of expectation and pressure as we make our debut at Dakar, but the RZR Pro XP provides us the ultimate weapon to take on what are arguably the harshest, most-demanding racing conditions in the world,” said Steve Kemp Vice President of RZR. “We’re excited to take on this incredible challenge, and we believe the combined experience and expertise of Polaris RZR Factory Racing and Jimco Racing will prove to be a formula for success.”
For the nearly 5,000-mile-long race, the team has chosen to utilize 30” high-performance BF Goodrich® tires, wrapped around sturdy aluminum 15” Method Race Wheels® with beadlocks. The vehicle is equipped with a full four-corner hydraulic disc brake system, with a dual master cylinder setup and driver-controlled brake bias for maximized braking performance and control to navigate the unknown obstacles that have made Dakar a race all its own.
The Polaris RZR Factory Racing lineup of Wayne Matlock and navigator Sam Hayes, Kristen Matlock and navigator Max Eddy, and Craig Scanlon and navigator Keith Redstrom will be led by Dakar racing legend Darren Skilton.
The team is backed by some of the most respected brands in the off-road industry, including 4 Wheel Parts – the largest off-road accessory retail chain, BF Goodrich Tires – the official tire of the Dakar Rally, Method Race Wheels, and FOX RACING SHOX. Sparco is the official supplier of the team’s safety equipment, driving suits and helmets, with equipment and vehicle liveries designed by Troy Lee Designs®. RZR Factory Racing Pro XP vehicles are also powered by Motul, Braille Battery, Motec, and Jimco Racing. Additional supporters include Rigid Industries®, Trayco, Shiftpod®, and Factory Canopies.
The team will tackle the world’s toughest race beginning January 3, 2021 through January 15, 2021 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Mineral Leasing Act of 1920
This Federal Law authorizes and governs the leasing of public lands for developing the deposits of coal, petroleum, natural gas and other hydrocarbons, in addition to phosphates, sodium, sulfer, and potassium.
Under the Act, anyone can nominate a piece of public land for gas and oil development. After doing so, the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) will review and sent to a lease auction where the highest bidder is awarded the usage rights.
Prairie Hills Oil & Gas
A small company (Headquartered in Big Lake, Minnesota) with one well in North Dakota appears to be leading the charge in acquiring the majority of the nominated leases.
Some of the nominated leases are as little as 1/2 mile from the Canyonlands and others 1 1/2 miles from Arches National Park.

Some liked the new platform and some prefer the traditional look that the RZR has sported since 2008.
Regardless if you are a fan or not, the 181hp is a beast of a machine. With the oversized cockpit, upgraded seats, longer wheelbase, one piece frame and the option for Live Valve suspension, this machine looks like the future of Polaris RZRs.
All of that being said, there is always a need for the aftermarket suppliers to jump in the game for improvements.
The newly designed seats are the best Polaris has ever included in a factory SxS, but they lack the comfort of fully suspended seats.
10 months from its debut, Pro Armor has introduced the G-Force replacement suspension seats that clip into the factory location.
To say I’m excited is an understatement! In 2014 I blew out my L4 and have not been able to enjoy more than 30 min of seat time without a suspended seat.
Available in 4 colors (black, red, white, blue) these seats will match any Pro XP/XP4 offered in the USA to date. At this time, they are only available for the front of your machine. Insiders tell me that the rears are soon to be offered in Pro Armor’s line up
I for one can’t wait to try a set out in my Red PRO XP!!

“During these unprecedented times, we have seen so many examples of healthcare workers and first responders working in the most demanding circumstances despite the lack of PPE for the greater good,” said Tom Delanoy, 509 founder and president.
“Working with Goggles For Docs to provide eyewear for those fighting on the frontlines of this pandemic seemed like a great way for us to contribute and we are humbled to be part of the solution.”
Goggles For Docs is a grassroots effort to provide healthcare workers with ski, snowboard, snowmobile and off-road goggles as they treat COVID-19 patients, offering a solution to the shortages of healthcare eye protection. As of April 4, more than 29,000 goggles have been shipped across the country. Dozens of new medical centers are being vetted daily by dedicated Goggles For Docs volunteers as the need for more goggles continues to grow.
“Goggles For Docs was created to help mitigate the lack of eye protection for medical workers and first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Jon Schaefer, Goggles For Docs founder. “The need for goggles increases daily and we wouldn’t be able to meet demands without the generosity of brands like Polaris, 509 and KLIM who have stepped up to provide much needed eyewear.”
509 and KLIM are a part of Polaris’ broad portfolio of snowmobile and off-road riding gear, apparel and accessory offerings.

About Goggles for Docs
Goggles For Docs came to life on March 28, 2020 via an email to Jon Schaefer, the General Manager of Berkshire East ski resort in Massachusetts. A New York City doctor was looking for used goggles to give to his team for eye protection. A quick spreadsheet documenting who needed what and where was created and a snowball effect was created. A group of seasoned and passionate volunteers – all of whom are goggle-wearing sports enthusiasts – run the program which is entirely crowdfunded.

Meet Mitch Guthrie Jr. (age 23), Blade Hildebrand (age 21) and Seth Quintero (age 17) — three of America's most promising young off-road drivers, and the members of the new Red Bull Off-Road Junior Team USA. The digital series Destination: Dirt will follow the three young American side-by-side racers as they are thrown into a brand-new level of competition on the global stage of international rally raid racing. Traveling across the globe to far-flung and exotic destinations, the three must learn to stand on their own amidst unfamiliar cultures and grueling competition.
This episode of Destination: Dirt follows Mitch, Blade and Seth as they begin preparations for the Dakar Rally, starting with a training session with rally raid legend Cyril Despres in the Pyrenees mountains. From there the trio jumps right into the fire, travelling to Saudi Arabia to begin the infamously grueling two-week long Dakar Rally. Despres and his co-driver, legendary explorer Mike Horn, participate in the race as well, while still providing mentoring/coaching for the young Americans. As Seth is only 17 and too young to compete, he provides moral support for the other two drivers before being called back to the United States to compete in the Parker 250 desert race in Arizona.

]]>Since introducing the Autonomous Work Vehicle as a concept under the name 3E-D18 at CES 2018, Honda has worked with a variety of partners to beta-test and evaluate potential uses in a broad array of environments, including a large-scale solar operations company, wildland firefighting, and an agricultural research facility. Honda shared the results of these real-world tests at CES 2019.
Real-world testing with partners
Honda evaluated use cases for the Autonomous Work Vehicle in three different environments: a large-scale solar operations company in North Carolina, a wildland firefighting division in Colorado, and an agricultural and environmental sciences college in California. For the solar operations company – spread across 178 rural acres in North Carolina – vegetation management is one of its largest challenges to reliable and affordable energy generation. It currently uses both sheep and manual labor to keep the vegetation under control. In the real-world testing scenario, Honda equipped a tow-behind mower to the Autonomous Work Vehicle allowing it to remove weeds around the solar panels efficiently and safely. With its autonomous capability, the vehicle provided the solar operations company with a more consistent and faster solution to manage its vegetation. In Colorado, one of the biggest challenges for the division that manages wildland firefighters is the allocation of resources. Currently, firefighters carry approximately 60 pounds of equipment, including chainsaws and water packs, while navigating steep terrain. This arduous task often leaves firefighters fatigued before reaching the front lines of the fire. To relieve this physical strain, minimize injury and free up manpower, Honda installed a gear rack on the Autonomous Work Vehicle to transport supplies, equipment and water. By deploying the “Follow Me” mode, the vehicle autonomously followed the firefighters with their gear in tow. Working with an agricultural and environmental sciences college in California, the Honda Autonomous Work Vehicle supported the harvest of crops and spray applications. One of the largest challenges for a commercial operation is the strenuous and time intensive activity of quickly moving harvested crops from the field to packing operations. To address this challenge, Honda equipped the Autonomous Work Vehicle with a gear rack and crates so agricultural workers could more easily load and transport crops. When using the “A to B” mode, the vehicle efficiently transported the crops autonomously. The Autonomous Work Vehicle was also fitted with a variety of work implements, including a spraying application for weed and pest control. This real-world testing demonstrated the Autonomous Work Vehicle’s ability to save time and minimize the potential for injury to workers in the agriculture industry. As Honda R&D engineers continue development efforts on the Autonomous Work Vehicle, the company seeks to connect with partners to create accessories and attachments that will expand the machine’s potential uses, businesses that may have a need for the vehicle, and autonomy technology and sensor developers to further improve the platform’s off-road autonomy.

]]>RZR PRO XP 4 Expands Pro Class with Unparalleled Four-Seat Offering
]]>
Available in three trim levels, the PRO XP 4 offers unprecedented value, while the PRO XP 4 Premium features interior upgrades, a full lighting package, multi-point harnesses, premium paint finishes, and a completely new storage system. Riders looking for a fully loaded machine can opt for the PRO XP 4 Ultimate, complete with steering wheel controls for Dynamix 2.0, Ride Command and a Rockford Fosgate premium audio system. Each PRO XP 4 machine is equipped with front and rear half doors, adjustable sliding driver and passenger seats, expanded fuel capacity, enhanced rear passenger sightline and stock 30-inch Maxxis Carnivore 2.0 tires.
“Industry standards were shattered with the introduction of the RZR PRO XP platform, and to continue that trend, we’re excited to introduce an all-new standard for four-seat performance side-by-sides,” said Chris Musso, president of Off Road for Polaris. “Of course the driver is at the heart of all the action, but we saw an opportunity to revolutionize the four-seat category with thoughtful design aimed towards passengers. The PRO XP 4 delivers on thiswithout sacrificing any of the industry-leading performance or durability riders expect from the RZR Pro class.”
Built from the Inside Out with Every Passenger In Mind
Just like the RZR PRO XP, the new four-seater keeps the driver at the center of everything – with a lower seating position, improved adjustability and thoughtful interior design that delivers perfect ergonomics. The PRO XP 4 adds to that industry-leading design with even more advancements specifically designed for the rear passengers. Slightly elevated rear seating creates best-in-class sightlines for rear passengers, while four more inches of shoulder room and three more inches of leg room delivers unmatched comfort for a full day of riding.
Boasting the same menacing look as the PRO XP, the PRO XP 4offers interior and exterior LED lighting and blue LED accent strips that line the cockpit for improved nighttime visibility. The PRO XP 4 is complete with dash storage and a latching center console, as well as the industry’s first rear “fold flat” storage. The new design allows riders to fold down the backseats to create additional storage behind the driver and front passenger offering over 16 cubic feet of storage space.
Pro Performance: A New Standard for Four-Seat Performance
With 181 horsepower, the PRO XP 4 is fitted with a larger turbo to create more boost, and a power band focused on snappier acceleration between 20 and 50 miles-per-hour. The all-new 64-inch PRO XP 4 machines debut with an industry-leading 22 inches of usable suspension travel, comparable to the RZR XP 4 Turbo S.
The chassis of the RZR PRO XP 4 is on a level of its own. With a 125-inch wheelbase, the longest of any RZR ever created, the supreme length not only delivers unmatched comfort and storage, but delivers next-level stability through high-speed whoops and dune transitions. Fuel capacity was also increased by two gallons, for a 13-gallon tank.
As the top-of-the-line four-seater, the RZR PRO XP 4 Ultimate features an entirely new calibration for DYNAMIX. Paired with upgraded FOX® 2.5 Live Valve Shocks, DYNAMIX 2.0 is easy to operate and includes conveniently placed steering wheel controls. The DYNAMIX ‘X’ button sends the system to full firm to prevent bottoming out in high-speed surprise events. All in, this machine transfers weight faster, is more agile and keeps the vehicle flatter – increasing confidence and comfort for all four riders.
Brute Strength: Stronger & Tougher Than Any Other Four-Seater
The PRO XP 4 is stronger in every area that matters. Suspension components are upgraded with tubular diameters that match that of the RZR XP Turbo S. The 64-inch machine’s high-clearance suspension in the front and rear provides a best-in-class 14.5 inches of ground clearance. Additionally, the PRO XP 4’s 30-inch Maxxis Carnivore 2.0 tires are the largest to come standard on a machine of its size.
Equipped with the same PRO XP drivetrain, with eight-times stronger axles that twist up to 300 degrees, the PRO XP 4 is the strongest four-seater ever created. Additionally, a revamped transmission delivers 39% more durability, while a three-times stronger front drive on the toughest one-piece chassis translates to fewer broken parts and a more reliable ride.
With more test miles than ever before, the quality and durability of RZR PRO XP 4 is truly taken to the next level and is made to devour whatever is thrown its way.
The RZR PRO XP 4 lineup can be pushed to the limits while maintaining its all-encompassing premium driving capabilities in the toughest terrains. Pricing for the RZR PRO XP 4 starts at $25,699, while the PRO XP Premium begins at $27,999 and the PRO XP Ultimate at $32,299. The RZR PRO XP 4 lineup is now shipping to Polaris dealers around the country.

RZR Sponsored Athlete Adrian Orellana Steals Pro UTV NA Class Win
]]>
Guthrie Jr. and fellow RZR Factory Driver Branden Sims completed the short-course in a neck-and-neck battle resulting inGuthrie Jr. securing his second win of the season. The victoryallowed him to overtake three drivers in the overall points standings and bring home the series championship.
As the UTV Turbo race settled in, Guthrie Jr. sat at 10th place, but he charged the course in dramatic fashion, running a pace nobody could keep up with and ultimately stealing first. Polaris RZR Factory Driver Branden Sims finished in second place in only his second race behind the wheel of his RZR. Polaris RZRs claimed six of the top 10 spots with Polaris Supported Athlete Randy Romo coming home fifth and Factory Racers Justin Lambert and Ryan Piplic finishing sixth and eight respectively. Fellow Polaris Supported Athlete Sierra Romo celebrated her belated 19th birthday with a ninth-place finish.
RZR Factory Driver Seth Quintero fell short on a UTV Pro Production perfect season but still brought home the Best In The Desert series championship. After pulling the hole shot and keeping the lead for six laps, Quintero got stuck behind a lapper on the second-to-last lap costing him the lead. Quintero battled back in a fast whoops section regaining the lead until an arm pin bolt backed out, causing a long repair and relegating Quintero toan 11th place finish.
Polaris Sponsored Athlete Adrian Orellana battled for first place after a stop for quick repairs and still crossed the finish line minutes ahead of second place. Polaris Supported Athlete Madeline Wedeking took second and 62-year-old Joe Bolton finished third for a Polaris podium sweep. Polaris Supported Athletes Corbin and Kaden Wells brought their Risq Racing Polaris RZRs home fourth and sixth respectively, helping to fill eight of the top 10 spots with Polaris RZRs.
“Without a doubt, the Polaris RZR Factory Racing Team completely dominated the field over the course of this year’s Best in the Desert Series, and Mitch Guthrie Jr. and Seth Quintero capturing the coveted series championships makes it all that much sweeter,” said Kyle Duea, vice president of ORV Marketing for Polaris Off Road. “With plenty more racing to go this season, there’s still more success to be had as our drivers and crews look ahead to the next challenge.”
Polaris RZR Factory Racing will look to continue its winning ways October 26 at the LOORS Off Road Championship inChandler, Ariz.

A premium flat-bottom steering wheel with industry-first telescoping adjustability along with new four-way sport seats that tilt and slide further create an adjustable driving position to deliver all-day comfort with perfect ergonomics.

And for the first time ever, RZR aftermarket partner Pro Armor will have accessories including a custom cage with roof, doors and vehicle protection solutions available with the launch of the vehicle.
Pro Performance: The Ultimate Ride & Handling
At the heart of the RZR Pro XP’s professional-grade performance is an all-new, 181 horsepower engine. The Pro XP’s new engine is fitted with a larger turbo, and is now water cooled for more reliable cooling and heat dissipation – ultimately creating more boost. With a power band focused on snappier acceleration in the 20-50 miles per hour range, the Pro XP allows drivers to maintain speeds on tight trails and tackle even the most technical terrain. Adding to the machine’s handling is an all-new chassis with a 96-inch wheelbase that provides improved straight-line stability without compromising the machine’s agility.

Furthermore, RZR upgraded its already industry-leading AWD system for even faster engagement when the tires slip by just three degrees. Drivers will experience the Pro XP’s advanced AWD system at any speeds without experiencing heavy steering or reduced turning capabilities.

The DYNAMIX ‘X’ button sends the system to full firm to prevent bottoming out in high-speed surprise events.
Brute Strength: Stronger & Tougher in Every Respect
Battle tested, the Pro XP has logged more test miles prior to launch than any other RZR machine. The Pro XP features 30-inch Maxxis Carnivore tires – the largest tires ever seen on a 64-inch vehicle – and an industry-leading ground clearance of 14.5 inches to easily handle trail elements without worry of rocks or debris connecting with the machine’s body. The Pro XP features Polaris’ strongest drivetrain ever, including eight-times stronger axles, 39% stronger transmission and three-times stronger front drive on the strongest chassis a RZR machine has ever seen. A newly designed clutch protects the belt from the elements, with increased air flow through the system – providing two-times longer belt life.
The RZR Pro XP lineup challenges the industry and caters to the most demanding of drivers who push the limits. Drivers will crave the adrenaline-filled ride these machines deliver. Pricing for the RZR Pro XP starts at $22,999, while the RZR Pro XP Premium begins at $24,499 and the RZR Pro XP Ultimate at $28,499.
